Cycle touring the faith back in humanity sounds crazy. What does it mean? It means that I am trying to get connected with the good in people, to leave the cynical attitude that I had the last couple of years because I have been disconnected from humanity. I live in a social world but I see my social skills diminishing day by day by the stress of trying to do to many things that are not important to me but I am required to do because someone, or something else imposes what they think, how , when and to what degree I need to function to be considered normal. Cycle touring places me in an environment of vulnerability. I am exposed to the elements, the surroundings and the factors that can dictate my ability to survive and get through to the next experience. Pedaling a bicycle through a terrain teaches me to listen to the things that I can’t listen in car, boat and plane. It forces me to talk to people and listen more and learn more. Two ears are more powerful than one mouth. Two ears and listening allows me to learn to process, to digest and to be objective. My existence becomes more of what the circumstances offers with out been forceful. I have a choice to continue or discontinue and to use the rationale to dictate the continuation or to cease and start over. A new scrip gets written every time and every time comes with new opportunity to see, feel, meet and experiences the uncertainties of the wide spectrum we call world.
Absolutely inspiring my bipedalist brother, very very well written. . Wish I were there with you sharing those experiences.
